GCS to Surplus Former Office Building 

September 11, 2026 – Guilford County Schools (GCS) is moving forward with plans to surplus a former office building. The Board of Education indicated its intent to sell its property located on Prescott Street. 

In 2024, GCS purchased its current headquarters, the former ITG Brands building located at 714 Green Valley Road and began to occupy the space in 2025. The larger, more modern campus houses more than 400 employees, allowing for the consolidation of central office departments and a more efficient use of resources.  

The surplus building is in a prime downtown location, located just steps away from the newly opened Downtown Greenway. After first being offered for sale to the Board of County Commissioners, the building can then be sold at fair market value. Per an agreement between GCS and county leaders, proceeds generated from the sale of these buildings will reimburse funds issued by the county for the purchase of the Green Valley building.
